Thursday, March 4th is Hug a GI Day 

Everything a WWII soldier wore, carried, ate, or used was
"Government Issued" (GI),
so they started referring to them selves by the same title

THE
EXCUSE...
"Do you believe in life after death?" the boss asked one of his
employees.
"Yes, sir," the new recruit replied.
"Well, then, that makes everything just fine," the boss went on,
"because after you left early yesterday to go to your grandmother's
funeral, she stopped in to see you."

The
First Military Tanks...
The first tank was developed by the British in World War I as a solution
to the trench warfare stalemate. The first prototype of the Mark I
tank was tested for the British Army on September 6, 1915.
To preserve secrecy the initial vehicles were referred to as
"Water-carriers". The workers of were given the impression that
they were building "Water-carriers for Mesopotamia"; hence the name
Tank.
